Our January luncheon in Ankney was very exciting. 30 individuals braved the cold temperatures to come out to Exec 1 Aviation to hear Brett Hoben of the FAA discuss the aircraft certification process. We were fortunate to hear his experience in certifying Textron's new C-408 Sky Courier. From initial design through the type certificate approval, he led us through the production of a clean-sheet design airplane.
A big thank you to JR Boesen and Exec 1 Aviation for the donation of the facilities and lunch. While it was cold outside the setting was warm, the food was great, and the chance to get to know each other was great. We look forward to seeing you at our next luncheon!
IBAA's quarterly luncheon yesterday in Iowa City was a HUGE success! We had over 35 attendees join us for lunch and a tour of the University of Iowa's Performance Laboratory. A big thank you to Dr. Thomas Schnell for making the time to show us around and discuss the laboratory, and Jet Air, Inc. for hosting the event and providing the great lunch.
Be on the lookout for our next luncheon announcement. We feel these luncheons are a great opportunity to come together and shake hands, make new acquaintances, and learn something as well.If you haven't joined IBAA yet we encourage you to do so. Our membership dollars go towards our annual scholarships, the more members the more we can help aspiring aviation professionals within our state!
IBAA is proud to announce that we will be giving away 2, $1000 scholarships at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. These scholarships are available for students from any of the Iowa 2 or 4 year programs with aviation degree programs. More information and applications can be found on our Scholarships page.
Thank you to everyone who came out for our first in-person IBAA Safety Luncheon last month. It was agreed by all that in-person events are a much more conducive setting for getting together, shaking hands, sharing a meal, and learning a little something as well.
A big thanks to Satcom Direct for providing the meal and the presentation. A thanks as well to Elliott Aviation for donating the hangar.
We will be hosting our next event in October in Iowa City, more details to come!
