  This quarter we will be featuring Brett Hoben, a member of the FAA’s Aircraft Evaluation Division (AED).

  Brett received a Flight Operations and Aviation Management Degree from the University of Dubuque where he taught for 10 years and was the Assistant Chief Flight Instructor. During that time he also flew charter on demand flying for Elliott Aviation out of the Quad Cities. Bret has been an FAA Aviation Safety Inspector for 11 years. The first 5 years with the DSM FSDO he served as a Principal Operations Inspector and oversaw several aviation operators in the state performing safety inspections, check rides, accident/incident investigations and pilot deviations. He was also tasked with being the UAS (unmanned aircraft systems) focal point, coordinating any UAS issues that came through the office. Currently he is with the Aircraft Evaluation Division (AED). Where he works with aircraft manufacturers in the certification of new aircraft and establishing new aircraft type ratings along with the checking, training and manual requirements.
